People who travel for work pack differently: not for the adventure, but against the clock. The goal is not the perfect suitcase — it is the suitcase that is ready in 20 minutes and still has nothing missing. Here is how.
The principle: do not pack, restock
The biggest time sink is hunting things down. Professionals eliminate it with a permanent travel kit that never gets unpacked:
- A toiletry bag that stays permanently stocked with travel sizes — after a trip you refill it, you do not empty it.
- A travel adapter with USB-C plus a second charging cable that lives only in the suitcase. The cable on your desk stays on your desk.
- Spare basics: one set of underwear, socks, ibuprofen, plasters.
That means 50 percent of the case is always already packed — before you even start.
The business capsule: 1 colour family, 5 pieces
For two or three days of meetings, a wardrobe in which everything goes with everything is enough:
- 1 suit (worn on the flight or laid on top in the case)
- 2–3 shirts, 1 knit for the evening
- 1 extra pair of shoes besides the ones you are wearing
- Belt, tie and cufflinks in one small pouch
All in a single colour family (navy or grey) — then there is no wrong combination, however early the flight leaves.
How to keep a shirt crease-free
- Leave shirts buttoned and in the dry-cleaner’s film — the film prevents the friction that creates creases.
- In the organiser lid compartment of the Altair Original Cabin, shirts lie flat and are not squashed by the rest of the contents.
- Hang the suit up straight away at the hotel, put it in the bathroom and take a hot shower: the steam smooths light creases in ten minutes.
- For everything else: compression packing cubes keep gym and casual clothes separate from the business half.
The 20-minute checklist
- ✔ Travel kit (toiletry bag, adapter, cables) — already in the case
- ✔ Capsule: suit, 3 shirts, 1 knit, 1 pair of shoes
- ✔ Laptop + charger, ID, credit card in the card holder
- ✔ Boarding pass on your phone, seat checked
- ✔ Airline carry-on dimensions checked → our 2026 guide
The real advantage
Travelling carry-on only gives you a double advantage on business trips: no waiting at the belt, no risk of a lost suitcase before an important meeting — and a 30-minute head start after landing on everyone who checked a bag. Twenty minutes packing, thirty minutes saved: there are worse deals.
