Repair Service

Repair instead of replace

A suitcase with a jammed wheel is not a broken suitcase. It's a suitcase that's missing a wheel.

We supply spare parts and help with repairs – even when the damage isn't covered by the ALTAIR Warranty.

Spare parts

For our suitcases we keep the parts in stock that experience shows are most likely to need attention:

  • Wheels and wheel mounts
  • Telescopic handle and handle components
  • Combination lock and latches
  • Interior straps, dividers and zippers

If the damage is covered by the warranty, we send you the spare part free of charge.
If it isn't a warranty case – after a fall or transit damage, for example – we charge for the part at cost. We tell you the amount up front, before anything happens.

Most parts can be swapped out yourself in a few minutes with a Phillips screwdriver. We include illustrated instructions.

What to do

  1. Write to contact@altairluggage.com
  2. Give us your order number and describe the problem briefly
  3. Attach photos – one of the whole suitcase, one close-up of the affected area

We usually reply within 24 hours on business days and tell you which part you need and what it costs.

When a repair isn't enough

If damage can't sensibly be fixed and it is a warranty case, we replace the suitcase. The details are on the ALTAIR Warranty page.

Damage caused by the airline

If your suitcase is damaged on a flight, please report it while you are still at the airport and ask for a damage report (PIR) to be issued. That is the only way to make a claim against the airline.

Write to us afterwards anyway: very often the suitcase can be fully restored with a spare part.

Care – so it doesn't come to that

  • Clear hair, sand and dust out of the wheels from time to time
  • Don't tilt the telescopic handle sideways – extend and retract it straight
  • Clean aluminum with a soft, slightly damp cloth – no abrasives, no solvents
  • Store the suitcase dry and don't leave it permanently overloaded

Scratches and dents, by the way, aren't defects. With aluminum, they come with the material.
