ALTAIR grew out of a simple observation: most suitcases are either cheap and last two years, or they last a long time and cost four times what the material and the manufacturing justify.
We wanted to bring the two together – an aluminum shell, a solid wheel system, a lock that locks, and a price that isn't carrying the margins of four middlemen.
Why aluminum
Aluminum isn't the most convenient material. It's more expensive to work with than polycarbonate, and it scratches.
But it doesn't break. A plastic shell that has cracked once is finished. An aluminum shell gets a dent – and keeps rolling. After a few years an aluminum suitcase doesn't look old, it looks used. That's a difference.
If you want a flawless suitcase, aluminum is the wrong choice. If you want a suitcase that's still rolling in ten years, it's the right one.

We sell exclusively through our own website. No middlemen, no store rents, no retail markup added to the final price.
That is also the reason delivery takes 5 to 15 business days and not two. We don't keep an expensive warehouse in every region. We'd rather name that trade-off openly than hide it in the fine print.
