Lifetime Warranty on manufacturing defects

A suitcase is not a disposable product. That's why every ALTAIR suitcase comes with a lifetime warranty on material and manufacturing defects.

If something on your suitcase breaks that shouldn't break, we'll take care of it – no matter how long ago you bought it.

What the warranty covers

  • Wheels and wheel housings that wear out early or seize up
  • A telescopic handle that sticks, wobbles or no longer locks into place
  • Combination locks and latches that no longer close properly
  • Hinges and rivets that work loose
  • Cracks or breaks in the aluminum shell that are not the result of impact
  • Faulty seams and zippers in the interior

What the warranty does not cover

  • Normal signs of use. Scratches, dents and patina on the aluminum shell are not defects – they are the nature of the material. Over time, an aluminum suitcase tells you where it has been.
  • Damage caused by airlines, carriers or baggage handling systems
  • Damage caused by loading the suitcase beyond its permitted capacity
  • Damage caused by improper use, accidents or unauthorized repair attempts
  • Loss or theft of the suitcase
  • Accessories with a service life of their own (see below)

A note on air travel: damage that happens on a flight has to be claimed through the airline – report it while you are still at the airport. Write to us anyway: we can often help with a spare part.

Accessories

Accessories (Packing Cubes, Vacuum Bags, Tote Bag, Tracker, Protective Cover) are covered by the statutory warranty of 2 years.

How to file a warranty claim

  1. Write to contact@altairluggage.com
  2. Give us your order number
  3. Attach photos: one of the whole suitcase, one close-up of the damage
  4. Describe briefly what happened

We usually get back to you within 24 hours on business days.

What happens next

Depending on what makes more sense, we'll offer you:

  • a spare part sent to you free of charge – for wheels, handles and locks this is usually the fastest solution
  • a repair through our repair service
  • a replacement suitcase, if a repair isn't possible

Transferability

The warranty applies to the original purchaser and requires proof of purchase from ALTAIR (an order number or invoice is enough).

Your statutory rights

This warranty is a voluntary commitment by ALTAIR and exists in addition to your statutory rights. It neither limits nor replaces your two-year statutory warranty against the seller or your right of withdrawal.
