Altair aluminium suitcase

Frequently asked questions

Product

How are Altair suitcases designed?

The design of an Altair suitcase starts from one simple idea: to make a product that stays with you for years, without compromising on durability, looks or ease of use.

We chose aluminium, a material with a long history in premium travel — for its toughness and its ability to stand up to the real conditions of transport. Unlike more flexible materials, aluminium gives you a rigid, stable structure that is exceptionally reliable against impact, pressure and repeated handling.

Every suitcase is thought through down to the detail:

  • The wheels are built to run quietly and smoothly, even on uneven surfaces.
  • The handles give you a firm, long-lasting grip.
  • The whole structure is reinforced to hold its shape over the long term.

We don’t want to design a suitcase that only impresses on the day you buy it, but one that stays reliable, practical and elegant after many journeys.

Why did you choose aluminium?

Aluminium is a material apart.

It is used wherever reliability is critical: transport, aviation, industry. In luggage it counts as one of the highest standards.

Its greatest advantage is structural strength. Where other materials absorb an impact by deforming invisibly, aluminium keeps its rigidity and protects what is inside the suitcase.

But beyond its technical properties, aluminium also has an aesthetic dimension all of its own. Unlike conventional materials, it does not stay unchanged. It evolves, develops a patina and shifts with use. It is precisely that evolution that gives it its premium character.

Choosing an aluminium suitcase does not mean choosing something temporary or disposable — it means choosing an object built for longevity and permanence.

Is it normal for the suitcase to pick up marks?

Yes — in fact it is in the nature of aluminium.

Over time your suitcase develops marks: scratches, abrasion or slight changes to the surface. These come above all from travelling in the hold, where luggage is handled hard.

These marks are not manufacturing defects. They are the normal result of using a raw, hard-wearing material. Unlike plastic cases that try to hide wear, aluminium owns it.

Over time every suitcase becomes unique. It reflects the journeys you have made, the places you have passed through and the experiences you have gathered. That is exactly what gives it its character.

Are your suitcases tough?

Yes.

Our suitcases are built to stand up to the real conditions of travel: baggage handling at the airport, pressure in the hold and frequent moving about.

Aluminium provides a stable, protective structure, even in demanding environments. Every component is chosen to deliver the best possible durability over the long term.

As with any heavily used product, marks of use can appear. They do not, however, affect either the strength of the suitcase or the protection it gives.

How heavy are the suitcases?

We have worked to find the right balance between strength and comfort.

Aluminium is naturally tougher than many other materials, which brings a certain density with it. Even so, we have refined the construction so that the weight stays manageable for everyday use.

The result: a suitcase light enough to handle comfortably, while keeping a solid, reassuring structure.

Shipping

When will I receive my order?
Total delivery time is usually between 6 and 9 business days. That period covers preparing your order, quality control, dispatch and final delivery. We take care over preparation so that every suitcase ships in the best possible condition.
Is shipping free?
Yes. Standard shipping is free on all orders. Depending on your location, an express option may also be offered at checkout.
Why is there a preparation time?
Every order is checked and carefully prepared before it ships. That is how we make sure the product is flawless, packed securely and arrives in a condition worthy of it.
How can I track my order?
As soon as your order has shipped, you will receive a tracking link by email. You can also follow your delivery at any time on our tracking page.
What happens if there is a delivery problem?
If something goes wrong — a delay, a package held up, damage in transit — our team picks it up quickly. We handle the back-and-forth with the carrier and come back to you with a suitable solution.

Returns & exchanges

Can I return my order?
Yes. You have time to form a real impression of the product at home. If the suitcase is not what you expected, you can request a return, provided it is in new, unused condition.
Can I try the suitcase before returning it?
You can examine and inspect your suitcase at home. To be returned, though, it must not have been used on a trip and must show no marks of use beyond a normal inspection.
How does a return work?
Once your request reaches us, our team guides you through the process. Depending on the situation, photos or additional information may be needed so we can approve the return quickly.
Do you offer exchanges?
In most cases we recommend sending the original item back and then placing a new order for the model or color you want. That makes the process faster and clearer.

Warranty

Is there a warranty on Altair suitcases?
Yes. Every Altair is covered by our lifetime warranty. It covers the essential functional components — in particular the wheels, handles, telescopic pole and locking system — with no expiry date and no registration.
What does the warranty cover?
The warranty covers the essential functional parts needed for normal use of the suitcase: wheels, handles, telescopic pole, TSA locks, and material and workmanship defects in the shell. Airport damage that leaves the suitcase unusable is covered too. We review every request and propose a suitable solution: a spare part, a repair or a replacement.
What is excluded from the warranty?
Normal marks of use such as scratches, light dents, knocked corners or visible travel marks on aluminium are considered a natural part of the product and are not covered. Loss, theft and deliberate damage are excluded as well.
Why are marks on aluminium normal?
Aluminium is a raw, hard-wearing material. It does not hide marks of use; it develops a visible patina over time. It is precisely that evolution that gives the suitcase its character, and it affects neither its strength nor the protection it gives.
What happens with damage caused by airlines?
You do not have to take it up with the airline before coming to us. What matters is whether the suitcase still does its job: does it roll, does it close, does it protect what is inside? Then it is a mark of use. If it no longer does, it is a warranty claim.

Payment

Which payment methods do you accept?
We accept the major credit cards, including Visa, Mastercard and American Express, as well as the secure payment methods available at checkout. Depending on the country, options such as PayPal or Klarna may also be offered. Every available option is shown automatically when you pay.
Can I pay in installments?
Yes. Depending on your location, you can pay for your order in several installments through Klarna or PayPal. The terms are shown clearly at checkout, so you have full transparency before you confirm your order.
Is payment secure?
Yes, completely. All transactions run over encrypted security protocols that meet international standards. Your banking details are not stored by us. Payments are processed by recognized payment providers, which keeps the level of security and reliability high.
Can I pay with confidence?
Yes. We work with internationally recognized payment providers used by millions of customers every day. Every order is processed in a secure environment, and you also benefit from the protections of your own payment method — your bank, your card or PayPal.
Why might my payment be declined?
In some cases a payment can be declined by your bank or by the security system — for example with unusual transactions, a spending limit or a mistyped detail. If that happens, we recommend checking your details, trying another payment method, or contacting your bank.
When am I charged?
Payment is taken immediately after your order is confirmed. You then receive a confirmation email with all the important details of your purchase.
